In the beginning of all this madness, I was, like pretty much everyone else, working at an office. I had to get up from bed, get ready and drive the car to the office. That was my routine. I always thought, as a programmer, that companies should be less uptight about working from home some days. But I'm afraid that here in Spain, where I live, that practice is frowned upon. Is not that you can never do it, it is the fact that you always need a justifiable reason to do so, for example, a headache or a flu. I find it kind of sad that you can't wake up one day in the morning and say: hey, I don't feel like socializing today, I will stay home and work from here. That would save us all from bumping into grumpy colleagues at the office! Not to mention that we would be helping our ozone ....(layer??) And that is just one advantage. One company-friendly advantage that I've come up with is the monthly billing cost, it would decrease significantly. (Just giving some juicy reasons in case you own a tech company.. you never know!). To finishing up, my mother always tells me to find the positive part in a bad situation or event. So following her steps, after all this coronavirus pandemic, I hope that companies realized that having flexibility in that matter not only helps with personal live conciliation of your employees but also to increase productivity since your workers are happier therefore, more willing to put more effort in their jobs, even though the happiness of your team should be enough reason to adopt this measure.
