Russian "Ничего" or "Нечего" - what's the difference? 1) Both words mean nothing. 2) "НичегО" has stress on "O" [nichivò] "НЕчего" has stress on "E" [nèchiva] 3) When we use them: ничегО + не(don't, doesn't, didn't etc.) + глагол в личной форме (personal verb form) / инфинитив (infinitive) for non subject sentences. It always negates the action. Ex: ничего не делай - don't do anything ничего не купила - (she) didn't buy anything плохо ничего не знать - it is bad to know nothing нЕчего + инфинитив (verb infinitive). It says that there are no object for action. Ex.нечего рассказывать- there is nothing to tell нечего читать - there is nothing to read нечего смотреть - there is nothing to watch The same for couples: нИгде-нЕгде (Он нигде не живет. Ей негде жить.) нИкуда-нЕкуда (Мы никуда не поедем. Им некуда идти.) нИоткуда-нЕоткуда (Автобус ниоткуда не пришёл. Туда прилететь неоткуда.) нИкогда-нЕкогда (Змея никогда не будет летать. Им некогда читать книги.)
