The best time to learn a language is today. Tomorrow is later than today, so today is better.

There are other studies which contradict the findings of the study quoted, and which reassuringly states that age is no barrier to language learning, and that there is effectively no difference in the ability between the "aged" and the young. Apparently there are two things which the young have more ability: the ability to decipher the new sounds unique to a language and the ability to eventually be accent free in their new language. My own experience is that with persistence the new sounds in French can be discerned and replicated. This part requires more effort but can be conquered. I think that the Babbel website is where I first came across cited studies that say that rates of learning a new language are no different between the aged and the young. This article following is not from the Babbel website but is very worthwhile considering as it proposes strategies: https://www.strategiesinlanguagelearning.com/language-learning-age/
