Hello Adam, In a particular point of view farm bill can be beneficial to farmers but at the same time it can lead to monopoly by corporates in this field and in long run new law can be misused. Before farmers are allowed to sell their products only to certain predesignated areas or agency, now they can sell to anybody so it can be beneficial. Another point in the law is anybody can store any product as much as they want , before it was not allowed for any private agency to store the declared essential commodities above a particular level to ruling out the chances for black market. As per new law government agencies will withdraw from grain storage and the same can be capitalized by private agencies, they can store as much as they want and once they have monopoly they will start to decide the price of the commodity. We all have the previous experience with the same kind of situation for petroleum products, before the petroleum price was decided by government and most of the time price was stationary even there was a fall or rise in crude price, then the govt gave the price fixing authority to petroleum companies and they increasing the price as per the rise in international market but not reducing as per fall in crude price. Govt not declared any base price for the products of farmers to protect them from exploitation from corporates. After the initial protection from farmers , now govt. saying they can amend this thing to the bill. At the same way government should have to specify upper price for stored products so that nobody couldn't take over the monopoly of the market and take advantage on it. Prior to these law changes within two to three years one company that is peer to PM and the party had constructed huge warehouse across the nation and almost 20 new companies started in agro business but the old laws was an obstacle for them. So who can benefit from immediate law changes, that's doesn't matter but law should ruled out any chances of exploitation.
