[Nafla exits MKIT Rain after backlash for his marijuana use]
Korean rapper Nafla has terminated his contract with MKIT Rain Records, the LA-based hip-hop label he had been signed to for the past five years.
“Our contract with Nafla has ended,” MKIT Rain said in its Instagram post on Dec. 2. ”After a long conversation and discussion with the artist, we hammered out an agreement to end the contract in a gesture of respect to the artist’s opinion.”
MKIT Rain added that it wished the best for the new journey of the 28-year-old Korean-American rapper.
Nafla has risen to fame as a rap star after winning the seventh season of the rap competition show “Show Me the Money” in 2018. The hip-hop star swept up in controversy and criticism after the police revealed that he and his crewmates were booked for smoking marijuana against the local drug policy last year.
