I learned about a baby welcoming tradition in the US called a Baby Shower by chance. It is a party which is thrown for welcoming the impending new baby before the birth. At the party, people shower the parents with gifts for the new baby. In my home country, we usually celebrate the coming of newborn babies after the birth when the baby is one month old. I guess people think that is a safe and good time to show the baby to their loved ones. Many families invite relatives and friends to enjoy a feast, in which people give their blessings and gifts to the baby. Traditional presents include gold necklaces, gold bracelets, silver chopsticks and bowls, gold long life locks, jade pendents, red pocket money, baby clothes.
