So far I have completed six and a half hours of Japanese class. It isn't enough to be able to write anything about it yet.... but I'm enjoying being able to study Japanese with native speakers without the expense of travelling to Japan to go to class. It would be impossible right now anyway because of Corona and the travel restrictions into Japan from Europe.
I wasn't very sure of how I would enjoy italki and how much I would learn from an app... but it turned out to be a very good system for me as I can wake up in the morning, have a cup of tea, and go online to directly chat to my Japanese teacher. No worrying about time distance or going out before work. It's very convenient.
I've even started my daughter on italki as she needs to go back and learn Spanish. We haven't been able to find her a class locally, but she logs straight into italki after school and there is her Spanish teacher waiting for her. It's brilliant and one to one - so she has the full attention of her teacher and can't hide behind other pupils.
Italki is a great idea which makes full use of modern technology and works well for people who want to do something useful, like learn a language.
