Pupil means the same as student. I don’t use the word “pupil” very often. “Student” is much more common. In American English, “favorite” does not have a ‘u’ in it though in British English it does. “Master” is not used in English this way. It is a false cognate. I assume she means that he works in construction or fixing things in a house like a craftsman, but I would need more information to tell you what word would be appropriate. Tell your niece she did a good job. Молодец!

Hello, Taya. Pupil is still used, especially in Britain but it’s becoming old-fashioned. Have got/has got is widely used in English to denote possession. But in North American English it’s usually have/has. Favorite is American spelling, the rest of the world uses favourite.
