Food waste in China "Who knows that on the dining plate,every single grain means hardship."This famous Chinese saying that advocates cherishing food has being widely known in China for many years. However, according to China Academy of Sciences, China has become the country which has the largest amount of food waste in the world. Food waste in China is becoming one of the biggest problems these years. In my view, the improvement of Chinese people's life, the change of consumption idea and the impact of traditional culture are three main reasons of this phenomenon. To begin with, the improvement of Chinese life is a basic reason. With the rise of China's economy, people's life is effectively improved. The average salary is higher, so it's easier for people to buy what they want. And with the development of science and technology, we have more chioces of food as well. Second, the change of Chinese consumption idea is an important reason. The industrial tranformation and the rise of service industry promote catering services, and then promote people's needs of food. In addition, modern advertisement greatly impacts and shapes people's consumption, make it be the truth that people who loves themselves should spend much money on themselves. Third, the impact of Chinese traditional culture is also a big reason. Chinese traditional sayings like "Nian Nian You Yu" encourage people to order more food than they can eat, and the wasted food symbolizes a greater life in the next year. Traditional concept of treating also cause food waste--in some Chinese mindset, leaving some food on the plates can show politeness and generosity to guests. As what I mentioned before…
