Watching the closing song of Mika Nakashima's 2015 concert, Boku ga Shinou to Omotta no Wa (The Reason Why I Thought I'd Die), right after I watched a memorial review about her, was the most recent moment that has moved me to tears.
At first, the song gave me the kind of sorrow you feel when seeing people struggle with depression, or unconsciously asking for help when you know that you are not the one who can really help them get rid of their difficulties.
But when Mika Nakashima knelt down to press her hand on the stage monitor speakers to catch the beat in the live performance, then stood up again to sing, I felt tears in my eyes. I was deeply overwhelmed by her persistence and unyielding faith in music. There may have been times in our lives when we were lost and depressed. We may eventually still have to overcome the suffering ourselves. At least we have this song to know that we are never alone. As Mika Nakashima said before the song, I’ll express my deepest feelings through this song. So, please listen to this song till the end.
That sounds beautiful, it's amazing how beautiful sad stories can be to us. Very well written, by the way.
