Urbanisation - 3rd and last part Medellín is a city in Colombia. Like other cities, it struggled with the societal phenomenon of urbanisation. Since the poor areas are located on the hillside, the municipal administration came up with the idea to put up cable cars as public transportation. So instead of locking out the shanty towns, they tried to connect them with the city lifes. Crèches are also built next to the cable car stations, therefore working mothers can bring their child to day care center and then directly go to work. In addition the cable cars also are a tourist attraction. In my opinion this is a good idea to cope the problems, which urbanisation causes. The city of Songdo in South Korea is a good and interesting idea. However making something new is almost always easier than trying to fix it. That is why I was impressed by the solution, which the city administration of Medellín came up with.
