Well, there is realy no magic way increase your language skills quickly. It is just not possible.

I would advise focusing on a long term plan. For most people it takes years to reach proficiency.

What do you do to master it? It depends on your style and goals.

But keeping close to books and texts is always a good idea, especially if you are taking exams.
Language learning, like most other academic learning, is an intellectual activity, and text is the form in which most important ideas and expressions are stored. If you hate reading, your chances of success is that much lower.

So try to stay close to reading. And if reading is not so exciting to you, then try to find good audio material, like radio news, pod-casts and such. Read and listen attentively with discipline, with an attitude that you'll do it till the last day of your life. Then success will come someday.

There is no "quick and easy" or "no pain" way to master a languge.

I am not experienced in the field of Ielts , I'd just like to deliver an advice of people who are. Ielts is pretty difficult which depends on the basic skills listening, speaking, writing and reading. Firstly, you should practice at least 3 hours a day to be familiar with English in general by saving vocabs, reading many academic articles and writing several essays. Secondly, listen more and more to academic topics and speak with clarified people to make a fair assessment for your actual performance and correct your pronunciation. Finally, answer some tests using time limit as it is in the actual test. The more practice you do the more self confidence you have which you need to overcome the stress of the speaking section. You have to be motivated to do your best and focus as you can on the general ideas and give attention to the importance of time to respond the questions which you understand. Don't loose the simple questions and don't waste the time responding the tricky questions, the time should be distributed as well. Wish you good luck.
