How to be an optimistic people?

I want to be a optimistic but sometimes I have pessimism.

I know people like optimistic friends. I like optimistic friends too.

When someone feel hopeless, I really don't know how to comfort him or her. Every effrots I can do for him or her at that time can be so tiny.

So I don't want friends to be worried when I feel hopeless. Also, when I feel hopeless, I don't want to do anything even something is very important.

I want to be a positive people.

for me faith plays an important role ,but faith aside drowning in what have might've been and why me will get you no where , everybody feels like crap from time to time and that nothing could help him but the best thing you could do although some times its hard is lift your chin up, smile and focus on the task at hand

I am not sure if people really choose which one they are, I think it may be due to the type of childhood one had.  If it was one of extreme abuse and neglect, that child may grow up to have a very negative view of the world, because most of what he/she experienced was difficult, scary and painful.


I find it nearly impossible at times to be optomistic, I tend towards depression and hopelessness, so it is easier for me to feel despair and pessimism that optomistic - I guess I have seen too many horrible things in my life to believe that ' tomorrow will be a better day ' as often it is not.

There are definitely articles on google and books you can read to develop the skill of abandoning pessisism.
