It is not true that men and women are paid the same in the U.S.

The sentence should be: "In your country, are there differences between women and men in the workplace? In Brazil, the wages are different."
In theory, men and woman should have comparable wages in the US, but that's not actually what happens in real life. For various reasons -- sexism, ability to negotiate salaries, opportunities for advancement -- more often than not, men earn more working in the same occupation/capacity as women.
