I am a college student and I’ve been using italki for almost half a year. I’ve met people from different countries here and it feels awesome to make friends with them. Honestly they did help me a lot with speaking while I didn’t have many chances to practice it in China even though I’ve been studying English for almost 13 years. Learning languages on language exchange websites seems to be an interesting way. And it is interesting to make friends with people around the world from whom you can learn about different cultures and ideologies. Recently I am preparing for a serious language assessment exam called IELTS which would be a language certificate for me to study abroad. I have been struggling with writing essays so I pasted some of the essays that I’ve written here hoping someone could give me a little help with it but no one really seems to be willing to help. Hahaha. Maybe the essays are too boring. So I started to think, what the language websites are actually for? Maybe it’s just an interesting way of learning languages casually and to learn about cultural difference? Do you think you’re likely to get efficient help on a language exchange website for free? How do you assess the efficiency of learning languages with the method of language exchange? Please leave a comment below. ^_^
I think it's really good if you don't expect too much. It's all for free and based on free will so whatever I get is good, that's the way I think about it. I think it's really nice that there are so many people willing to correct those notebook entries. And it's possible to find good language partners too, but too many people get too upset if it doesn't happen (immediately). As for your notebook entries, try to make them shorter, most people are more willing to correct short entries. Also, your English writing is already very good, so don't sweat too much.
