Don't be too adventurous on word selection. Stick with a small core vocabulary unless you are fairly certain about a new word's usage. For example, you probably know you could have used "New guy, first post!" for your title, but you opted to use some words you weren't quite sure of. As a result, your title looks strange. If I'm wrong about you knowing a correct form, sorry about that.

Honestly it sounds like you are doing a really good job already. Don't forget that learning a language take times, especially when it comes to expressing oneself. My advise would be to keep doing what you are doing in terms of reading (to help you learn new vocab), but also just try yourself to think in English about anything and everything. Of course finding some native English speakers to talk with is another really good idea. Natives speakers are good at taking the sometimes more simple words you'd use to express yourself, and giving you the more complex words you desire to use yourself.
