What is worth seeing in Germany?

We love nature, our son loves castles. What is worth seeing in Germany?

How about going to the Chiemgau-Region in Bavaria, halfway between Munich and Salzburg? That's the best combination of nature and castles I can think about. Can't beat Neuschwanstein for castles (even if it's a little overrun with tourists), plus there are lots of others nearby (just as worth visiting while not nearly so popular), there are the lakes (the Chiemsee is huge), breathtaking panoramas of the nearby Alps included, picturesque villages, lovely beer and food...

I would second Eisenach, Weimar, and Erfurt. Eastern Germany is quite beautiful. You could also see Leipzig and Halle, which are two unique and interesting cities. Moreover, a quick trip to the Czech Republic would be relatively easy from here.  Nature and castles abound in these areas, too. Safe travels!

There are so many places. If you like to see castles please check for example:

If you prefer a combination nature & castles you could visit the Rhine/Mosel valleys. There are many castles.

Another place would be the Wartburg castle area (Eisenach, Erfurt, Weimar, etc.)

You could also combine nature & castles & city by visiting the Spree Forest and Berlin.

Another option is Heidelberg or the famous places in Bavaria.

The north of Germany has also interesting places.
