It is absolutely very true that on average, the more beautiful (handsome) you are, the more your income (mirror to your success in a sense) is expected in a couple of researches, despite we often teach our children do not judge a book by its cover (by appearance for a person).
Alexander makes a great point: If we’re talking about people who are lazy and ignorant, of course their appearance will be a huge factor — perhaps the only factor — contributing to their success. On the other hand, as people work harder and expand their knowledge, it seems that the role of physical appearance becomes relatively unimportant, or even irrelevant. Case in point: We occasionally see people on italki who create a teacher profile, post an attractive photo and a video near with Hollywood production values, and then expect a flood of students. Such teachers don’t last long here....
Well, you've raised a very good point.Yes,Beauty plays an important role in all our life.But what beauty we are talking about?Is it the beauty that reflects on our faces or the beauty that lies inside our brain??You've not pointed the finger towards the fashion industry(i.e.models) as the facial beauty is their profession.You've pointed towards other industries which don't have any special attention towards the beauty(facial) factor.But in some cases, it does exist if not in the company policy but in the own personal policy of the recruiters.So,I think they do look for beauty as I've examples(my all girl-friends who are obviously beautiful but average in academic)and they all are placed in the different software industry.So I think here in my country it is possible if you are beautiful and little bit good(not much:))at academic then,job is waiting for you:)
But there are people who are more beautiful by their knowledge and smartness so obviously, any industry will take them as knowledge and smartness are the things to which an industry gives always the 1st preference.So if I will say summing up all the cases then everybody is worthy in this world as this world is itself a beautiful one:):)
