Hi!
I have a book called "Japanese Sentence patterns for Effective Communication". In one example they translate "The train is about to leave the station." into "電車は駅をでるところです."
This をseems incorrect to me or have i missed something?
It's correct !
を can be used to indicate a point of departure as well as many other things
It's correct.
For example, "I'm about to leave home" is 家を出るところです。
Thank you!
I didn't know the "direct object marker" was used in this way also. I think I was fooled by the name :)
を出る to leave
に出る to attend
庭へ出る go out to the garden
particle changes the meaning
