I agree with that article. The poetry is the way because when we read or write poetry, we can dive in a world full of nice emotions necesary for our life. I hope each day increase readers of poetry.

I read the article and found it useful; you are perfectly right by saying that poetry helps us to deeply understand other languages and enhances our speaking proficiency, because they have profound contents.

I love the point about "raining cats and dogs". Studying poetry can be a huge step toward becoming familiar with idioms that would otherwise be completely confusing. Sometimes people feel the way to sounding natural in speech is to memorize grammar rules. While that might be somewhat true, it's important to remember that not even native speakers use proper grammar all the time. So learning how such poetic phrases are used can really help someone sound more natural, I think.

Absolutely right! Without poetry life would be a monochromatic world, such as other arts it refines the human soul. I guess is easy for Spanish learners to read Neruda's poetry, it goes direct to the heart - and for those that are in love would be perfect :)

Por cierto, veo que a varios les encanto la frase "está lloviendo a cántaros".
Curiosamente, si pronuncias rápidamente "cántaros", se produce un sonido muy similar al pronunciar "cats and dogs".
Recuerdo haber leído eso, aunque no recuerdo donde (por si alguien se molesta en autorias jaja)
