¿Qué tal me entiende la gente que no es nativa española?
Hello everyone
First of all, I'm Spanish and I have always wondered what my Spanish sounds like to non Spanish people, so I have recorded myself reading aloud a random piece of news. Could you tell me if I'm easy to understand, if I got any accent, if I sound weird or funny....?  I guess reading is not the same as having a conversation with someone, but it could give me an idea.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I am Colombian and I understand everything you say. What does it sound like? Well, you pronounce your consonants much more back in your throat. So sometimes it sounds like you are choking or something.

Castilian accent sounds direct and straightforward. It does not sound melodic or emotional, it just sounds straight to the point.

I understand you perfectly. You speak quickly but you are easy to understand. You sound very normal, like the people from Spain that I am used to speaking with, but with a younger voice, if that makes any sense :)

Hi Ruben!

If you were my Spanish teacher, I would definitely ask you to PLEASE slow down! :)
For one, I'm more used to Latin American accents, but the speed in which you talk is definitely too fast for me.
I couldn't even really judge your accent. I'd need another, slower recording to be able to do that.

You definitely do sound like you are from Spain, not Latin American.  You do not sound weird, but when you are speaking to non-native speakers it would help us a lot if you would slow down . I am much more used to listening to Mexican and other Latin American accents. I was trying to figure out if you were speaking more rapidly than I am used to hearing or if it was just the more difficult accent for me.   It was obvious that you were reading instead of speaking, the intonation seemed flat and kind of like a machine gun, which I doubt you would sound that way in a conversation.
