To Sudeep

Good attempt!

To Mohammadreza

That's a good question and it's a hard one to answer! To me, there is no single answer to this question. One might find watching movies and TV series useful, while one think talking to native speakers or people who live in English speaking countries is the best option. There is no proved way, to be honest. In fact, you might see an idiom in a text book, thereafter you realise it's not commonly used or maybe it's more popular in one country rather than all English speaking countries.

2. Not every argument has two clear sides; Sometimes there is a grey area.

3. If you don't know what's going on in a situation, you are in the dark about it.

4. When something happens out of the blue, you didn't expect it to occur.

5. When you are caught red-handed, it means somebody has seen you doing something wrong or illegal.

6. If you are fired from your job in a company, you get the pink slip.

7. In some offices there are many forms to fill out and there is a long procedure for tasks. This means there is a lot of red tape.

8. If you tell a small lie about something unimportant which doesn't really hurt anybody, you tell a white lie.

9. When you are unhappy, you have the blues.

10. Although I though that I knew Jack, it was years later that he showed his true colors, when I realized he was a thief.

Feel free to make up some scenarios to use these idioms. Can be fun :)

I would have gone for this too.

6. If you are fired from your job in a company, you get the ...

I've never heard this one before.

And in answer to Mohammed:  I make a note of idioms but I don't use them until I hear them used in conversation.
