What does the word 'Italki' mean?

I've been using this website for one year and a half, but someone asks me this question, I won't be able to answer. Does anyone know why Italki is called Italki?

Here is my suggestion:

Italki sounds like 'I talk' in English. You can 'talki' with teachers and language partners you meet here.

I have no idea but I imagine that it was something a child or an English learner once said. It is funny and cute.  A great name for the website!

I think the final i means see. I think I've heard it somewhere, I'd never think of it myself.

I've often joked that "italki" means "I talk to myself".

There's this weird prestige associated with starting your name with a lower-case "i". Obviously it comes from Apple's naming practices (the iPhone, iPod, etc.). It was a stroke of marketing genius on Apple's part, if I was part of the committee deciding on the name "iPod", I would've said it's a stupid wrong I would've been!
