Ciao tutti !
I need some tips on learning Italian , I'm living in Italy since almost a year now and I still can't speak it nor understand it properly.
Hi Ayya! I speak Italian at a B1-B2 level. Hope this helps!
1: Use Duolingo to start. It's a place to begin, and it's a good beginning start.
2: Use lots of input. Songs are good for listening, and use children's books for reading. Only read newspapers when you start getting to a higher level of Italian.
3: Once you get to a higher level, start focusing more on advanced grammar, and advanced vocabulary. Start to focus in on one specialized field (law, science, etc.). Fine-tune where you need help, and focus on those things.
4: Take professional lessons on Italki for additional help.
5: Learn to think in the language. It's hard at first, but once you start it eventually gets easier.
6: Have fun! Learning Italian doesn't need to be stressful; it's a great musical language!
If you have any questions, please let me know. Sincerely, James
