1 When we point at a person's profile photo it shows us the person's national flag. There are approximately 195 countries in the world. Does italki expect us to memorize 195 flags. Why not just show us the country name in text?
2 The Notification icon at the top of the page (the bell) always indicates that I have more notifications than I actually have, e.g., shows 3 - have 1 or shows 4 and have 2.... annoying....
Are any of you experiencing the same annoyances?
It came across another annoying thing and this is the fact that when you are in long Discussion such as this one to read the last comments you have to keep on clicking SHOW MORE several times, whereas having the "pages" numbered would help to make it easier, or just an option to go to the last page avoiding passing through all the pages in the discussion. I do not know if I made myself clear, sorry!
I knew someone would teach me something new, e.g., point at the flag and see the text. I didn't know that.
Now I know I'm not the only one with the 'notification' problem.
Thank you Katarina, Itina and Zahra.
I agree, Richard
But I want to specify about first problem you mentioned - if we point on this flag will appear the text "From Canada" (for example like in your profile).
Hope Italki will solve its problems soon :)
1. I kind of like it. I'm not very familiar with flags so maybe I learn something. And the native language is often as good of an indication as I need as to where the person is from.
2. Yes, I consider it a bug and hope they fix it. the new website does seem to be a bit buggy.
I agree with Katarina, the first point is actually a stealthy way iTalki uses to teach us geography and vexillology (and I know I need it).
As for the notification icon's bugs, the way it works it's quite archaic and not necessarily the best one if you ask me...I'd happily join the group of those who would welcome improvements...!
By the way, there are 193 UN member States but at the end of the day most folks on here will be from a handful of better-known countries...so I'd focus on the buggy features instead! It happens to me as well! Oh, and sometimes I'm not notified (by e-mail) when people replies to my messages
