If you're looking for language schools, the website of the Associazione delle Scuole di Italiano come Lingua Seconda could be helpful:

http://www.asils.it/

On the right hand side you can look for schools by region.

Das italienische Kulturinstut in München hat hier ein paar hilfreiche Tipps/Links:

I can't think of anything regarding tandems. I would check universities once you're there or see if there are any Facebook groups for tandems/language learning for the city where you're going.

Hi Martin! I would recommend Trieste too.
It's not a big city, but really beautiful and very interesting to visit (wonderful architecture, sea, mountains - you will surely find something you like!). You will have the chance to meet students for language exchange, as Trieste hosts the SSLMIT (university for translators and interpreters). It is very close to Slovenia, so you might visit this country as well.
Bologna is also a good place for students, with many universities and all kinds of events, but it's bigger and chaotic.
Enjoy your trip to Italy. :)

Hi! I recommended you go in the North East of Italy too (if you can) for example in Venice and Trieste! there are beautiful cites and in Treste you can find also a lot of students  and I think that it would be easy to you to find a language tandem. Have a nice trip! :)
