Hi Everyone,
I know this is something we're reminded to do since childhood, but unfortunately sometimes people forget.
I like to correct the Notebook in English here on Italki.
Actually, I genuinely like to do it.
Recently however, I corrected a long notebook page that was an essay really.
It took me some time and consideration to finish. However, I never even received a "thank you".
(I have to admit, this was the first time ever on Italki that this has happened..)
Even though, I am a native teacher and love what I do, it still takes time and effort.
It's been a while that I really regretted not hearing those two simple words, "THANK YOU".
Have I forgotten to thank someone recently? Possibly. I hope not.
What do you think?
By the way, here are some ways to say thank you in English:
1. Thank you for (ing form of verb)...
2. I really appreciate you/your (ing form of verb) + object
3. I would like to thank you for ....(ing form of verb) because....
Any thoughts about this topic welcome.
Dear Sononeko,
You are the reason I like to correct notebooks. It's so great to hear how happy it makes you feel.
Keep writing!
All the best,
Victoria
Yeah, I totally agree with you. We should to say thank you after we get help.
And I should say it is very excited that someone could correct my notebook. This is the best thing happens after I write a notebook. It could make me happy all day long. And again I express my thanks to who correct my notebook here. I really really really thank you guys. And I really want to speak English fluency.
Yes Michael thanks for your comment.
I personally wouldn't correct a notebook again from someone who didn't say "thank you".
I don't want to get discouraged from helping others certainly.
All the best, enjoy your Sunday.
I agree with you Victoria. I enjoy being able to assist others in their language (English) pursuits -- and enjoy a brief “thank you” after the correction is submitted. In general, if I assist someone and don’t receive a “thanks,” I’ll think twice about assisting/correcting/editing a notebook entry from that same person.
That said, like you, I’ve found that it’s a somewhat rare situation to not receive a thank you here on iTalki. The word is getting out!
Thank you for starting this thread!
