I actually had this problem I was always afraid to start speaking but now believe me after I decided to speak a month ago it's really interesting I regret all this time I wasted being shy and afraid to talk. There is nothing to be afraid of when you speak with a language partner just do it and even if your level is not good just try and your partner is supposed to help you and correct your mistakes. Actually if you stay afraid to talk you will never learn your target language or make any progress.

Yes, it is true that most people have good grammar and vocabulary, but the trouble is fluency in speaking the English  language and of course the right accent...And the best really is try to speak a lot of English, maybe this site will help...

Do nothing, and my spoken English is still lame.

I don't have major problems with talking, I'm much more shy when I have to write something, not in English, but in other languages that I know less well, because then I feel like it's staying there forever for everyone to judge. Anyway, as for talking, once I make an appointment to practice I have no other choice but to talk, and it would be much more embarrassing to call a teacher or a language partner and then not talk.
