I agree with that definition. They are also probably trying to contrast with the majority of movies...which tend to be highly predictable.

Sometimes people use the word ¨original¨ to mean uniquely creative or one-of-a-kind. I think that is the meaning they are trying to convey with the use of original.

Replace original with 'Unique' and it hopefully makes sense
