If you use Yahoo email, you must read this

The company said on Thursday at least500 million user accounts were affected by a massive data breach. The hack happened in 2014, when "state-sponsored actor" stole account information, including names, emails, passwords, telephone numbers and answers to some security questions.

So what should you do if you have a Yahoo account?

First and foremost, you'll want to change your password immediately. All Yahoo account holders should also change their security questions and answers.

If your account is one Yahoo suspects was compromised, you'll be prompted to enter a new password as soon as you log on. If you used the same password on other accounts, change those, too.

Richard, thanks for sharing ! I got an email from Yahoo this morning, mentioning this.

Luckily, it's an account I haven't used in ages and hadn't used much in the first place.

Let's hope for the best !

The number of the hacked email accounts are truly gigantic. It is bitterly disappointing that the company has hidden all of these information for about two years. They should have been more transparent to the users.

Thank you for sharing. It is sad to know that, I thought Yahoo firewall is very strong to be exposure to such a big problem. This hacking may endanger many important accounts. I can't imagine that my private accounts, and data may be stolen!

@Richard: thanks for the info. Time to switch to another email provider. However, on second thought does it really matter? Bad guys have hacked government officials email accounts and God knows what other individuals or institutions. We are living in a cyberage and until an unhackable code is written...dream on
