I usually choose the cheapest product that meets my requirements, keeping in mind what I intend to use it for (for example, am I going to use it as my primary camera or do I prefer having a separate camera for travels and occasions). I check this each time I have to buy something electronic, then check user reviews to see if it has issues, if people are complaining about something, and decide if it is a deal-breaker for me. I avoid buying the latest product because they may have unknown issues. I tend to avoid brands I've never heard of, but among major brands, I don't care which one it is. I now have a Motorola, chosen as above. It has been working for the past 2.5 years with no issues at all.
