Pest control I have a problem at my house with ants during the summer months. There are so many of them and I keep having to spray them to kill them but the next day there are always more of them. So I thought....why not ask the italki community if anyone would like to share any home remedies that I could try to get rid of them for longer periods or even better....permanently. :)

As you are asking it in italki community then you have to learn Ant-language to tell them to get out of your home:):)

Make sure you do not use balsamic vinegar!

I used normal white vinegar in a spray and it worked for a while. Then just as we were going out shopping we noticed a few had reappeared. So as I was busy for a minute, my flat mate sprayed what I thought was white vinegar, but it was balsamic! We came back just 40 minutes later and there were hundreds of ants as it is a sweet vinegar! Some were even flying ants! We had also left a kitchen window open and there was a bird flying around in the kitchen. It was an awful experience. It was like a nightmare, how the brid ants and flying ants all happened in that short space of time!

I know a couple who had ant problems in Spain and they tried everything then I think one day they tried lavender in a spray bottle and they haven´t had a problem since..worth a try, If you can find the places they are coming in and make sure there is not even a crumb of food lying around it will help.

I don't have any home remedies and I am uncertain of the South African ecosystem, but every fall I have an exterminator spray around the perimeter of my house. It keeps out all of the spiders and other insects seeking shelter from the cold. I usually pay a bit under 200 USD. It is well worth the price. Try checking out some local exterminators and see if their quotes are within your budget.  Hopefully, you can get rid of them soon~
