Self-indulgence??? Hello! Guys! Have you heard about Chinese "放飞自我"? Do you think whether its meaning is euqal to self-indulgence?

From your explanation, I think that these two phrases are quite close. But sometimes it has negative meaning when someone is too "放飞自我“.  In another words, it describes someone cannot control himself. Just like self-indulgence.

Interesting, in Persian language we have an expression "Bi khyal sho" which means literraly "be without dream". We say it to a person who is wasting time thinking too much about something instead of forgetting and continuing to live his life.

I dont know how to say "放飞自我" in English. That's exactly the reason why I asked. However, i feel like it seems "let yourself go". People do sth. without thinking too much.
