Achieving Your New Language Goal(s)

How to achieve your goals in your new language

FIRSTLY: Determine your own goal(s)

No one knows better than you. If you are applying to a job that needs your understanding of a language speakers and being able to speak to them fluently, so there is no need to spend one minute in reading especially if you do not have much time.

SECONDLY: Make your goal SMART

Specific: Don`t tell yourself I just need to be good at this language but tell I need to speak with confident

Measurable: You have to measure your performance with numbers so take a reputable placement test and then write down your score then make a plan then take the test again and see where your plan moves you from the beginning.

Achievable: Again don`t load yourself with such impossible goals such as I will be fluent in 3 months, I will master the language in just 70 nights. Keep in mind success is not an event or a chance success is a process and any process needs check points and improving based on the outputs.

Relevant: You are a unique version of yourself. It completely true that what is great with me might be less than bad for you, NO SIZE FITS ALL. Learn the way that is relevant to your goal and your character.

Time-Bounded: Make your goals attached with time. Don`t let your day passes without making something new towards your goal. So if your goal requires you to spend 2 hours a day in studying don`t make that just writing on paper. Make sure that your daily to-do-list has those 2 hours even separated and spread to the along day.

GOOD SMART GOAL: I would like to understand this article by the end of this week (that requires dividing the lines and new vocabulary included in this article on 7 days)

BAD SMART GOAL: I would like to be fluent in ******language one day!

THIRDLY: FOUCS

Remember when you have finished your plans, you would find many distractors travel around you and BTW they are very attractive. PLEASE do not even waste a minute thinking of them. Just have your blank page designed for future goals and list them down and when you finish your main goal please visit them back.

FINALY: ITALKI is your way to achieve most of your goals

You can make learning a new language 100% self-study base in all its aspects but you will need some help and some sort of coaching just to make sure that you are in the right path.

My last and lose advice when choosing your teacher on italki or outside:

Don`t choose the teacher who is perfect at speaking to you or perfect at teaching you ONLY but what is more important is the teacher who motivates you to continue learning the teacher who reminds you when you forget your goals or the one who supports you as a human being not as a business partner only J Enjoy your learning journey.
