Do I need to carry enough cash or just credit card while traveling around Norway and Iceland? Can I use credit card in small towns like Vossevangen,Flam,Myrdal to buy ticket or food?

My husband just got back from iceland and he used the bank card to take cash out when he got there because there would be a $3 charge every time he used the credit card.  He used the credit card the he ran out of cash, though.

I haven't been to Iceland, but in Norway just about every town big or small has a credit card facility.

Took about 4 days easy driving from Oslo to Tromso, and I haven't had trouble using their credit card facilities. South of Oslo, even small towns, it should be fine too.

Wow~ it is about USD4.00 per cash withdrawal from my bank (anywhere around the world, plus the conversion fees and additional fees from the local bank).

I often use the credit card because I rarely travel with cash on me, maybe USD 200 in small bills just in case.
