About Japanese pronunciation

Do you think that Japanese pronunciation is irregular as I am?

For example, /k/ I was taught to pronounce it slight /k/ but some speakers speak it with strong /k/.

Moreover, /k/ as the beginning of a word seems different from when it is in the middle of the word

*unexplainable

How to distinguish between ja, jo and cha, cho?

Thank you

Hi, I'm Japanese and I think we always pronouce [k] regularly. Maybe you talk about the [k] which is changed into small [tsu], for example:

triangle  さんかくけい --> さんかっけい

square  しかくけい --> しかっけい

wash machine (for clothes)  せんたくき --> せんたっき

About other question, in English, ther are like:

[ja] JApanese, JApan

[jo]  JOgging

[cha]  CHAt, CHAllenge

[cho]  the first part of CHOsen (This [o] is pronounced [ou] but Japanese [cho] doesn't have [u] of this pronunciation.)

Anyway, they are totally different from each other. I think you can fine videos "how to pronounce Japanese characters" or something. Please take a look at some.

I hope this was helpful.
