Thank you for taking the time to read it, Penny.  I agree, language is a tool.  Practice and use are the most important learning activities once the basic grammar is understood.  The good news is that once you are able to listen to a Ted talk and understand it, you are a very advanced student of English and should feel confident speaking as often as possible!  Cheers!

Practice the rhythm and melody of English is quite difficult for us(native Chinese speaker). We still need to listen more TEDtalk and YOUTUBE video to train our ears and  familiarize.

Thank you for your sharing.

Great aticle! Thanks for sharing it with us! Sometimes, it is hard to identify these pieces of the pyramid when talking to native speakers. They usually talk too fast. Cheers!

Thank you, zeynep, for taking the time to read and comment.  While grammar is an essential basic component of language education, understanding and being understood are the reasons why most of us study English.  I think the best education is immersion.  We are fortunate to have so many free tools that mimic a native environment! Cheers!
