What kind of purpose do you have in your language learning?

Hi there!

I was asked by others here about the title.

I always set some goals for my study (eg. for get TOEIC certification, ect).

But I also have a friend who is studying Japanese just for spoken abilities. I think it's not enough to master a foreign language just for speaking.We need study it serious in Speaking/Listening/Grammar/Reading.

So how do you think about this issue?

My main purpose has always been to understand what actors say in adult movies. It has always seemed so easy for them to say a few lines and they would immediately jump into an adult scene. I wanted so badly to know what they were saying so I started learning English. So unfortunate it was when I realized it doesn't work in real life.
