I read this article in a postcast to learne english but I didn't understands what meanings this thing that English people do in this day .. the day is New year
"I became the New's year version of Srooge (??? what is it?) and linking arms and singing a verse o 'Auld Lang Syne? . My cup of kindness was half empty !
Can someone explain me ?
Thanks
I think you are referring to "Ebenezer Scrooge" from "A Christmas Carol"
Scrooge was a miser (stingy person - does not like giving, sharing spending etc) So
"I became the New Year's version of Scrooge (because Scrooge is normally associated with Christmas) linking arms and singing a verse of Auld Lang Syne (a song normally sung on New Years Eve) My cup of kindness was half empty (half empty because that is something that Scrooge would do)
The words in the original song says "We'll take a cup of kindness yet"
I know it's very confusing but I hope this helps a bit
