For me, I think it is crucial to correctly spell the word here, because italki is a platform where people learn a new language sometimes for the first time. While you are native or just an advanced learners it is important to spell words correctly not only to not mislead the young learners, but also to avoid degrading these beautiful languages.
Sorry if my english is sometimes wrong, it's because I'm also a learner.
@ Richard Thanks for your comment, I sometimes use www.grammarly.com to write email with the right spelling or for other.
@ Rose I completely agree with you, for me even if you're not a native speaker you have to make efforts and do your best to spell as good as possible whatever the means that you will use to reach your goal.
@ Anne I agree with you, but in my question I was not just to talk about errors which could be corrected by a checker but also to talk about voluntary mistakes. All the time I see many natives an non natives make mistakes I guess intentionally.
@ Omar I think what you say is true because when I see a new word I try to associate the structure and spelling of the word with its pronounciation.
I agree with your good comments.
Everyone should respect every language and always try their best to spell correctly.
Unfortunately, English spelling can be quite confusing, so even native E speakers make mistakes.
Many of us use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PoerPoint and these programs have their own spelling and grammar checkers, so we can see some of the mistakes because the word is underlined in red.
But on italki, we don't have any spell checkers, so it is easy to make a mistake and not notice the mistake, even if we proofread.
So, I suggest everyone downloads the spelling/grammar checker from the website: www.grammarly.com
Then everyone can see the mistakes they made when they write comments in any website, including italki ...
Good discussion Achille...
