I think a place of living is more fundamental than a language set. Islanders understand each other, and misunderstand continental people, a desert is not a forest. Even stars matter. Think about how fatalistic could be not to see any familiar star in your window.

I find this to be one of the most fascinating concepts with language.  I have definitely seen a shift in the way that I think since I learned my second language.  I've seen lots of advantages in thought processes as well.  The personality thing is interesting too.  I do sometimes feel like I have a somewhat different personality between languages.  But I think part of it is just the cultural differences between the languages which kind of causes a difference in behavior.

Well, I think learning languages has a great influence in us since new connections are created in our brain when learning a new language, for example when learning a language written from left to right. Also, I have read references to articles that present the idea that our personality changes from language to language, this is some people have experienced they are more extrovert when talking a language different from their native language.
