Hello,
In my experience, learning Japanese has provided many benefits.
1. I live in Japan, so it is a primary communication tool that I use daily.
I can enjoy jokes, conversations, written material, and so on.
2. There are many opportunities for in-house or freelance translation work.
One can also work in international banks, Japanese corporations (in japan or even overseas),
or even Japanese start-up companies. Tons of opportunity.
3. Learning Japanese is a door to the Japanese culture. One's knowledge of Japan and it's culture
can be open to a much deeper level through the native Japanese language.
4. Learning any language has many benefits of opening the mind, keeping the brain sharp, and
other benefits as well.
5. It's fun.
And it is cool when you know Kanji like 犀 (サイ), rhino--and can use it to impress your Japanese friends or
co-workers.
Bonus point:
Having a good background in the Japanese language made it a lot easier for me to learn JSL (Japanese Sign language, 日本手話)
All the best,
Mac
