Hello everyone! I'd like to talk with you(foreigners) about Fifa championship in Russia. What do you think about Russia generally?? Are you going to visit the championship? And do you like the football??

Ok I have a few questions. I was in Nizhny Novgorod when the announcement came out that they would get to play some matches there. I can't quite understand a couple things.
1. After how much Sochi cost the Russian people ($12 billion) Do the Russian people see FIFA as another chance for Russian government to spend a lot of money that the people must pay?
2. Are the tickets for the final going to be so expensive that it will be impossible for average Russians to buy a seat? Have you seen any prices yet?
3. Do you think World Cup is the highest quality of football? Maybe premier league? Maybe Spanish league?

Brian, I watch World Cups, I think I'm glad that we have one here.
If it were in Spain, I wouldn't think much about their finansial and social problems, I'd just watch football. I understand that I'm a citizen of Russia and so on... But you know, I'm a human first. Only then a citizen. If I thought that World Cups are a BAD THING I'd consider it a global problem:) How do you think, is it?
Specifially in Russian case... it is not that we are poor up to famine. We have other problems. And as I know Russians, I think, likely most of them are rather glad.

Agree, it really seems like our government spend money for ostentation and weaponry only, while we have a huge number of problems that need to be addressed. Personally, I'm not supporting Soviet Imperial habits, I love Russia, but not those politicians.
Tickets prices are very high for average people.
The quality of football is maybe not quite good in the group stage, but after the strongest team remained, I think it is not the worst show.
Despite all these matters, I'm going to take part in the championship 2018 as a volunteer. Hope meet you or other members of italki in Nizhniy Novgorod in summer. Welcome!
