I don’t know the American version of Biryani but I adore the one from the Mauritius Island. We once had neighbors who came from there. Their Biryani was the best, with vegetables AND meat. The smell of it when it was cooking in the oven perfumed the whole house. Just delicious.unfortunately I didn’t ask the recipee. I ate in Indian restaurants but never found that quality. The neighbor she prepared her own mix of spices.
