Hi there i have a friend from Argentina, i've host him in Italy and he invited me many times there but i did't have the chance to go.
Buenos Aires it's a crowded place just like all the big metropolis, i know that locals are not very friendly with tourists but doesn't mean you won't have a good experience. The city is full of international restaurants, shops, there are many cultural events every day :)
My friend also live in El Calafate (Patagonia) for few months during the year and he recommend me to visit this area, expecially the glacier area, i have seen the pictures of stunning landscapes :)
Argentina is a beautiful country, it has many things to offer, not only is Buenos Aires the tourist spot. But if you plan to go there, the recommendations would be that you do not go out to the street very early, when there is not much movement of people, that you do not take cameras or cell phones in the street or all the time .. it is not bad to look around to see if you feel something strange. keep hidden money always and separate the one you are going to spend at that moment .. so you avoid taking out your wallet every time you want to buy something.
It is a dangerous country, but not all people had a bad experience and that is because they take their precautions, do not go thinking that at the moment of going something bad is going to happen to you ... like in almost all countries, something bad can happen or not.
