First take a look at this sentence please:

The word "big" which means "large" also means "important".

Here they want me to omit the conjunction and add -ing to the means. Now I have two questions, First, should I add ing to both of the means in the above sentence? if not why? explain this to me fully please
and second, what this process is called grammatically
