First take a look at this sentence please:

Here they want me to omit the conjunction and add -ing to the means. Now I have two questions, First, should I add ing to both of the means in the above sentence? if not why? explain this to me fully please

I have no idea what you would call this as a process, and it's like that because it can't be other way I guess.
