Hey guys and gals!
I was thinking the other day about ways I could help my intermediate-advanced students study English more effectively, and I remembered something I used to love when I was a kid... Text adventures!
Text adventures are basically like interactive books. Instead of passively reading along and following a character through a story, YOU get to make decisions that affect the outcomes of the characters and plot line! I think it would be WAY more exciting and engaging than simply reading stories in your target language.
Here are some websites I found to get you started:
http://www.web-adventures.org/
http://textadventures.co.uk/
(Hint: Most of these require you to press the "enter" key to go through the stories).
Speaking of which, my Chinese friends, "text adventure"怎么说中文?
Leave a comment if you have some other good ideas for learning a language more immersively!
Hi Douglas
Thanks for the tip, I will check it out to recommend to my students.
