What are the hardest things you faced while learning italian? Did you have some serious issues while learning italian?

In common with many learners, I struggled with the pronunciation of double consonants. In English, there is no difference in pronunciation between a single or a double consonant on the page, so it's always tempting for anglophones to pronounce them all as single consonants.

The biggest issue for me was the intrusion of Spanish in the early stages of learning, although this improved over time. I then dropped Spanish completely for three months and it wasn’t so much of an issue. Later this year I plan to learn both languages concurrently and a long-term goal is to switch between Italian and Spanish during the same lesson. If I can manage that without too much interference I’d be very pleased!

I have the same problem as Chris. Spanish always interferes. It's just so hard for me to think and speak in Italian. But Spanish is my priority language, so maybe I should just wait with Italian until I'm more advanced in Spanish.
