Is watching dramas an effective way to study Korean?

Hello everyone!

Lately, on the side of my lessons, I've been watching a few k-dramas.

What bothers me is that they switch often between formal and informal, and I have not gotten far into informal speech that I get stuck.

Also, the actors aren't very strict with grammar points and sometimes omit words here and there.

It just seems more natural to me learning that way as I can hear how they say the sentences and how they form them, but I am worried it might mislead me.

What do you guys think?

I think learning through TV shows is pretty much a waste of time until you get comfortable with the grammar.  I would wait until high intermediate level until you watch dramas as a way of helping you learn.  Until then sticking with listening that is the appropriate level for you.  That is much more effective.

Also, when you do get to a point when learning through TV is effective, I would watch variety shows.  The dialogue is more natural and you often get Korean subtitles to also help you learn to read quickly.

Personally , I've never tried to learn Korean  but I still manage to understand most of what they say thx to kdrama ❤❤ It's definitely  a good method to learn the language , at least the basic conversations
