I am trying to answer someone's question, "do US and British speakers have difficulty understanding each other?" (She is Guatemalan and had difficulty understanding a Dominican neighbor's Spanish at first). I answered by saying "BBC broadcasters have a definite English accent, but we can understand it effortlessly." But I would like to play her an example.
So I would examples of the same passage, in easy English, in something as close to "Standard American English" and "BBC English."
(What I do not want is one of those semi-facetious examples of hard-to-understand local accents, or a YouTube video where one person imitates and exaggerates different accents).
